SUPERIOR HIKING TRAIL

The view above from Look Out Mt near Cascade River State Park has changed since this picture was taken, and I'm curious as to how it looks now.  In the fall of 2009 a wind storm hit the area and trees were falling everywhere. It was reported that it took about 2 hours just to hike a mile due to all the downed trees. I have to laugh when I hear the tourist complaining about all the uphill to get to the view. They need to get into the real mountains. Most people just stop along the highway and view the falls nearby. You have a choice of trails as there is one on both sides of the river. The one on the west side has more up & down, while the east side has more tree roots to watch out for. I had to take a picture of the tree that the woodpeckers have worked over.
