| It's hard to tell but there are five people
sitting in the cockpit. From left to right we have what used
to be the Navigator but is now usually an extra seat. Then we
have the Pilot followed by the jump seat and the Copilot. Finally
we have the Flight Engineer who in this picture is one of my
former students. The second picture shows what the Flight Engineers
panel looked like with all the lights on. Notice the hand on
the right side holding the test switch on. Normally if all these
lights came on you would be in real trouble. The lower picture
is taken of a KC-135 tanker just before we hooked up. This was
taken at about 23,000 ft. |
