| This map shows the main backpacking section of Pt Reyes. There are 4 campgrounds that you must hike, bike, or ride bike to. Reservations are required. Again, this map is free from the Bear Valley Headquarters. If you decided to hike from the Palomarin trailhead it is suggested that you part at the Pt Reyes Bird Observatory as there has been a break-in problem at the trailhead. Finding your way hear can be a problem also. Caltrans has had a long running problem of trying to place a sign on Highway 101 to turn toward Bolinas. Seams that no matter what they do, the locals thwart them. It's even been a subject of cartoons in the San Francisco Chronicle. |
