Leaving
the state park you'll be walking County Rd 70, also known as Camp 20 rd,
for 1.7 miles before heading back into the woods, some of it on private
property. Last time I saw some cranes fly off when I walked by. This
was the second time I'd seen cranes in two days. The first time they
were flying over Jackson Lake Rd. I saw bones in a couple places along
the north part of the trail. Between the Hazel Campsite and Carlson
Pond you'll walk a gravel road aways. There is a sign warning you to
keep an eye out for dog sled teams training. If you camp at Hazel
you'll hear them barking. Carlson Pond has a pretty high beaver dam.
Just a day after I passed someone else saw a moose in the pond.
