Winnemucca Lake is below Round Top. Don't plan on swimming in this lake unless you're a member of the Polar Bear Club. It could be the coldest lake in the Sierras. Its a very deep lake which means it takes a long time to warm up. There is also a small water fall on the side of Round Top that runs into the lake. This water fall stops when the sun goes down, and begins again in the morning when the sun starts to melt the snow. I've skied up to this lake in the winter from Carson Pass, about 3 miles. Some people like to camp here in the winter. |
