| Benson lake is a popular spot even if it is 30 miles from Tuolumne Meadows. The sandy beach and warmer water is an added draw. The last time I was here I was waken up by a scream. It took me awhile before I realized it was a Screech Owl. It had perched on the roots of an old fallen tree I was sleeping near. Several times during the night I woke up and could hear it flying through the trees, using its screech much like a plane uses radar. |
