As promised, more about COWS. When you get your hiking permit you are told to use minimum impact camping. There are restrictions on how close to water that you can camp, and where and how big a hole to dig when going to the bathroom. I follow all these rules but what about the cows? They leave cow patties everywhere and are very destructive. I can't say much for the people watching them either. The person watching these cows had a large camp set up about 40 feet from a lake. These cows had done so much damage that I couldn't even find the trail which aren't cheap to build and maintain. Fortunately I only had to keep going up canyon till I found the trail again, about a quarter of a mile. To read what the San Jose Mequry found out about the BLM's MultiUse policy and Cows, here is an article they printed.CLICK HERE! I found this birds nest below laying next to the trail. It appeared to be made from animal fir and grasses. |
