| From below Palisade Lake you get a view of Mather Pass, the notch just to the right of center. The trail to the pass is a good one as is all of the John Muir trail, it just takes awhile since the elevation of the pass is 12100 feet. We were originally going to hike over the pass and then take the old trail over Cartridge Pass to the Middle Fork of the Kings but changed our mind and headed down canyon instead. Its a long hike from here to Tehipite Valley which took us 2 1/2 days. It took us a week to reach this area. |
