SUPERIOR HIKING TRAIL |
| The
newest trailhead on the Superior Hiking Trail is the Sucker River
Trailhead located between Two Harbors and Duluth. To reach this
trailhead from Duluth head east on highway 61. After passing the 14
mile marker head north on Homestead Rd till you reach a T intersection.
Turn left and then right at the next intersection on App Rd. After a
mile or so the name of the road changes to Fox Farm. You'll see the Fox
Farm trailhead after a couple slight bends in the road. Continue on the
road as it heads east. After crossing the Sucker River you'll see the
trailhead on the left. I like this new section of trail but it won't last long. The county has issued logging permits for the area. The Superior Hiking Trail Assn knew this when building the trail, but there weren't too many options available. Hopefully the logging crews won't damage any part of the trail. |
