SUPERIOR HIKING TRAIL |
| Leaving
Fox Farm Rd heading to Rossini Rd you'll go through some nice forest,
which in fall have a large variety of Mushrooms. You'll cross the snow
mobile trail before following a stream for awhile. You'll also go
through a former tree farm with a hill in the middle. You can see Lake
Superior from a couple places on the hill. Once back in the forest
you'll cross this stream above. You might notice the cable on the far
side securing one end of the bridge. In case of high flows the bridge
can swing out of the way. The bear track below was one I took near the Big Bend campsite where I had just camped. My food was hanging in the tree 15 feet from the trail but the bear must have ignored it. A year earlier we did a final walk thru of the trail to open it. Some other people had put the latrine in at the campsite a few days prior. When we stopped at the campsite we found that a bear had knocked the latrine over. Probably looking for grubs. In the last photo the little white objects are mushrooms. |
