| One thing you'll experience while canoeing here is a portage. Some of these portgages are short ones, but some are a bit long. Portages are messured in Rods with a Rod being 16 1/2 feet in length. Many of the portages are only about 10 to 30 rods, but one we did was about 120 rods. That portage is shown in the two pictures below. They also show why its sometimes better to not go too soon in the season as the trail can be quite wet in places. |
