| If you're hiking 10 miles a day you'll be hiking uphill alnost all day leaving Devils Postpile. You'll pass Red Cone and have lunch at Crater Meadow before a short descent to Deer Creek, then continue your long dry climb before you drop down to Duck Creek. Its a good place to camp as there aren't too many good sites to camp at Purple Lake. Below is the view from the final climb to Duck Lake. Its looking over Cascade Valley and Fish Creek toward Silver Pass. |
