| The tall peaks in the background belong to the Ansel Adams Wilderness, formerly the Minarets Wilderness. Mt Banner and the lakes Thousand Island, Garnet and Shadow are located there. The trail from Devils Postpile climbs up the ridge visible in the background and traverse along side it. Duck and Purple Lakes are in the side canyons seen cutting into the side of that ridge. Below is another picture from the pass that looks more to the west. The trail can be seen in the lower center of the picture. Many people hike from Lake Thomas Edison over Goodale Pass and then back up the way I just came to Silver Pass before heading back to their car. |
