SHASTA HOME

Doesn't look like the Fourth of July does it. This view looking toward Mt Shasta is about one mile from the parking lot. not too much further and you can reach the stone cabin that the sierra club maintains, and the last toilet. On clear busy days you can see a faint line of people in the background heading up the mountain. Our route took us to the left, away from the crowds, but with a lower base camp.

This is some of my friends that I hiked with. It hardly looks like the July Fourth weekend but it is. It rained a little on this day, with more the next along with some sleet.

 

This is our campsite in Happy Valley on the north west slope of Mt Shasta. Water wasn't a problem, melting the snow was. The summit is in the distance.
