SIERRA WILDFLOWERS

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK

I only have a few pictures of wildflowers in Yosemite. The above picture is the only one I have of a big area of flowers. If you really like it feel free to hike there. Its about 25 miles from Tuolumne Meadows at the junction of the Pacific Crest Trail and the Rogers Lake trail. You'll notice that I don't have as good a quality of picture from scanning an old slide compared to the digital pictures you've been looking at. Below is the largest patch of wild onions I've ever seen. They cover most of the ground in the picture. They too are located on the Pacific Crest Trail but this is just south of Dorothy Lake. There is a creek shown on the map, but it disappears in the onions and never reaches the creek. Its about a 25 mile hike here also, starting at Hetch Hetchy and hiking up through Jack Main Canyon to the upper parts of Dorothy Meadows near Bond Pass. I don't mind telling people how to reach these more accessible areas compared to the Desolation Wilderness which to me is too over run with people.
