This creek is typical of the creeks
in the area. It doesn't look like much, but many people that
come here are inexperienced and should attempt them. Instead
use the portages that bypass the rapids. You should also be aware
of windy days where you risk swamping your canoe. It also pays
to wear your life vest at all times, and know CPR before you
go. In a two year period of kayaking at a place in Sacramento
which only has about a one foot drop on the American River I
had to help people about 9 times. These people didn't wear their
vest and could have drowned if someone hadn't been there to help
them.
Although the area is heavily forested there
is also plenty of granite in the area. There are no big peaks
here, pretty much just rolling hills with plenty of water. If
you like to fish you should be in heaven.
